Our Grants Programme is running, please keep checking our website for details of when we are accepting applications for Grants. Although our Community Development for Older People Projects remain on hold for now, we hope to start activities again soon when it is safe to do so.

Bristol Charities is committed to working to provide support to people and communities throughout these complicated and taxing times.

Dear Bristol Charities,

I cannot thank you enough for helping me get a proper bed. I have been on a camp bed for 5 weeks. I have a spinal problem...that has got worse. Today I got an orthopedic three quarter bed, with a nice metal frame. It is so comfortable. Thank you so much. I medically needed a bed and I am looking forward to sleeping in comfort.

With gratitude.

Henbury and Brentry Community Development Project

Bristol Charities delivers Community Development Services to Older people across Bristol. Our work involves bringing people together, fostering lasting friendships and consequently reducing social isolation and improving the health and wellbeing of older people.

It is shaped by local people's desire to improve services and activities for older people living in the area. Our approach has been to contact and bring together groups of older people to identify concerns, what they want to change or see happen, what they are doing already and the skills they can contribute.

This includes the establishment of an Advisory Group of Older People who make decisions on local developments. As a result of Advisory Group involvement, a wide range of activities have been set up with the local community and other partners in the Henbury and Brentry area.

Get Involved

We would like to encourage Older People from diverse backgrounds (including BME) to get involved in the Advisory Group to help shape the activities and services in Henbury and Brentry to remain representative for all.

Bristol Charities also looks to work in partnership with a variety of organisations locally and city wide to increase the breadth of activities and groups. Get in touch if you would like to explore the opportunities.
