Bristol Charities, recognising the need for day services for older people, has extended and refurbished a former club in Machin Road, Henbury. The building opened as a centre for services for older people on 10 January 2005.

The centre is equipped with a kitchen and dining area and a number of activity rooms. The outside has been re-modelled to provide ease of access.

The centre provides a number of benefits for older residents of Henbury and Brentry, including;
 

   
A place to meet and socialise with other local older people within a safe, supportive and attractive environment

   
   
A range of creative activities and excursions to promote self-reliance and to provide a focus for time spent at the centre. Such activities are likely to include music therapy, art therapy, and gentle exercise.

   
   
A café for centre users and other people from the area, offering good quality food at affordable prices.

   

Bristol Charities Henbury Centre

Bristol Charities aim is to create a focus point for older people in Henbury and Brentry; one which improves their quality of life, and provides a range of services, that are both useful and enjoyable.

The Henbury Centre accommodates clients who are referred and funded by Social Services. In addition, a number of clients are funded by other charities and organisations, including Clifton College Preparatory School, St Peter’s Non-Ecclesiastical Charity and Bristol Charities’ Relief in Need Charity. In addition there are a number of privately funded clients.

HRH The Princess Royal opens John Foster’s Almshouse
HRH The Princess Royal will officially open John Foster’s Almshouse, Crow Lane, Henbury, Bristol on Monday 22 February 2010 and Her Royal Highness will then visit the Henbury Centre, Machin Road, Henbury, Bristol.
