Day Services

Recent studies have shown that social isolation is a major problem for many older people, especially those who are particularly vulnerable (i.e. those suffering from Dementia and those with limited access to social or financial
resources)

A recent report from The University of Keele highlighted that a significant minority of older people could be described as being socially isolated and/or severely lonely.

The aim of our service is to reduce marginalisation, exclusion and loss of autonomy by promoting social integration / inclusion, independence and participation.

Research has indicated that day services can help people to achieve:

  • Support in staying at home
  • Enhanced quality of life
  • Healthy ageing

The aim of day services is:

  • To maintain, enhance, restore or develop service user's independence, skills, and well being
  • To alleviate social isolation and to maintain the service user in his or her own home for as long as possible
  • To provide relief to carers under stress, or to support vulnerable adults
