| OPEN DOOR ON CITY HISTORY |

|
Foster's Chapel opens its doors to the public every September, as part of Bristol Charities' contribution to the City's Doors Open Day.
Situated next to Christmas Steps, the Chapel of the Three Kings of Cologne was founded in 1485 by John Foster, a Bristol salt merchant, whose house still stands in Small Street.
It is believed to be the only chapel in Britain dedicated to the Three Wise Men.

Every year over 500 people take the opportunity to see David Jones, Chief Executive of Bristol Charities, play the part of John Foster, and hear him describe the history the chapel and the adjoining Foster's Almshouse. Other members of Bristol Charities staff dress in Tudor costume and greet visitors.
The almshouse is still in use and is currently home to 18 residents. It has been owned and managed by the Trustees of Bristol Charities since 1836.
