Making a donation

Donations can be made and they assist us in making grants or providing services for people in need in the City of Bristol.

Setting up a fund

Modern day benefactors are invited to establish a named endowment fund.

In the case of a named endowment fund, the capital sum is invested and the income, that it generates, is used to fund grants for ever more.

Legacies

People often decide to leave a legacy which will support an aspect of our work, for example residential or day services for older people, or grants to those in need.

We would normally agree the beneficiaries that people want to assist.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a scheme that allows us to increase the value of donations by 28%.

If you are an individual taxpayer, all you need do is inform us to treat all your donations as Gift Aid donations. We can then claim back from the Inland Revenue the basic tax you have already paid on this money. With Gift Aid, a £100 donation becomes £128.21.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer; following a donation of £100, we reclaim the basic tax (£28.21) and you reclaim the extra tax on your next self assessment form.
