175th Anniversary

Bristol Charities will be marking its 175th anniversary in October and David Jones, chief executive, has written a number of articles in which he will describe the politics and drama of the 1830s that led up to the creation of Bristol Charities and also of the colourful characters involved.

The newly appointed trustees met for the first time on 27 October 1836 and the articles describe the efforts made to ensure that the charitable assets were secured and then put to proper use.
